- Department:
- Interior Design and Design
- Course Leader:
- lect.arh.int. Livia Nica-Rus
- Learning outcomes:
- The project aims to start with the elaboration of a toy analysis within the National Toy Museum (part of the National Museum of Romanian History), with each student developing their own project, taking into account the characteristics of the toy selected.
Objectives pursued:
Understanding the concepts related to toy design;
Deepening the skill of approaching a theme following a relief study;
Studying materials from the perspective of their use for a practical theme;
Creative resolution of the proposed theme;
Creating a visual presentation of the object through specific means;
Deepening practical notions of prototyping;
Developing sketching skills using both traditional and digital methods.
- Content:
- The chosen toy will undergo a comprehensive analysis. Based on this analysis, each student will elaborate and propose three directions for transforming the existing toy into a new, reimagined version, adapted to the requirements and trends of a future scenario. This scenario will be created individually by each student and could be projected, for example, over 5/50/100/500 or 2000 years. One of the three concepts will then be further developed into a final project.
We will thus explore the diversity of materials, colours, shapes, and textures, outlining all essential aspects of toy design, starting from initial ideas and conceptual sketches to creating prototypes and testing them.
- Teaching Method:
- Design project theory, lectures, projections, personal feedback
- Assessment:
- Presentation (intermediate and final) + model + boards
