- Fișa disciplinei:
- FI-D SFA-137 Matematica aplicata in arhitectura.pdf
- Department:
- Study of Form and Ambience
- Course Leader:
- Claudiu Tudoran
- Learning outcomes:
- The course primarily prepares the students for working with geometric shapes by grounding the basic notions and directly applying them in practical work.
Also, the course aims to develop mathematical knowledge with direct implications in architecture through a logical progression from two-dimensional elements to the generation of surfaces and volumes. At the end of this course, students will have taken the first steps in the following directions:
1. Drawing of geometric constructions with ruler and compass.
2. 2D technical drawing, using Rhino.
3. Modelling of complex shapes.
- Content:
- Course:
1. Elements of geometry in space.
2. Geometric constructions with ruler and compass. The quadrangle.
3. The circle. The triangle. The golden number. The Fibonacci sequence. The golden spiral.
4. Geometric forms. Unfolding.
5. Functions and graphs of functions. Vectors.
6. Surface generation. Tessellation.
7. Ribbed surfaces. Fractals.
Practical work:
1. Introduction to computer-aided design. Introducing the Rhino interface. Basic commands and navigating the workspace.
2. Structuring the work file. Creating layers. Inserting a support image. Two-dimensional drawing.
3. Continuation of the drawing. Adding annotations (dimensions, texts, etc.).
4. Graphical adjustments. Creating a layout. Viewport scaling. Save as PDF for printing.
5. Working with surfaces and volumes: presentation and applications.
6. Making a volumetric: the first steps.
7. Creation of 3D geometry: the rendering – first steps.
- Teaching Method:
- Lectures accompanied by digital support; on screen computer examples.
- Assessment:
- The grade is obtained by evaluating the practical works. Active attendance at the course will be appreciated.
