- Learning outcomes:
- Since 1998, in Romania a legal framework has been promoted allowing the set up of a territorial organization, of institutions and instruments necessary to implementing a regional development policy. The aim of the course is to provide the necessary information and knowledge, so that students will understand the concept of regional development and the evolution of the implementing process in the EU, Romania and some other EU member states. Students will also get familiar with the specific issues of the regional development policy, various analytical methods, specific indicators, institutional structure and responsibilities of the different regional actors in Romania and elsewhere. The use of Structural Funds during the 2007-2013 period of time is also approached.

5. Specific techniques and methods for the elaboration of territorial planning documents; comparative analyses

8. EU and the regional development policy: history, evolution, treaties, NUTS system
9. Regional development in Romania during the EU integration process: history and recent evolutions; pre-accession funds, post-integration evolutions and regionalisation process
10. Instruments and institutions for regional development in the EU: Structural Instruments, principles and specific regulations, regional; development agencies
11. Programming process and programming documents: relation between regional plans and territorial spatial plans
12. Characteristics of the 8 Romanian regional development regions; legal and institutional framework, regional development indicators and measuring disparities

- Evaluation is made of 50% activity during the semester through 3-5 checking exercise and 50% examination during the examination session, either oral, based on examinations tickets or on a written paper.
